Maybe you used the unsecure version as the regular 9.9.9.9 has DNSSEC and I was able to send them a message from, their site so maybe try without extensions or contact them via mailfwiw running firefox in linux, setup quad9 in network and on vpn, wireguard connection ok, but URL reply seemed a tad slow, but still ok. BUT then did double check with dnscheck.tools and I got:
"hmm there was an issue checking dns security!" under good signature I got 3 red x x x. (the rest were green checkmarks)
went to quad9 support, used their webmail form, spent a few minutes typing the message, then the webmail did not send.
so I was interested in trying quad9, and now I'm not
my quad9 did NOT validate with dnscheck.tools...dnscheck.tools - check your dns resolvers

yes, I considered sending them an email, maybe I will tomorrow... I set quad9 up as shown in their setup guide for my linux distro using 9.9.9.9 -- I did connect using their dns, it did not fully validate. Is that my problem to fix or theirs...??Maybe you used the unsecure version as the regular 9.9.9.9 has DNSSEC and I was able to send them a message from, their site so maybe try without extensions or contact them via mail
For me quad9 as sometimes faster then cloudflare and has faster integration of security features and better intelligence and their support is excellentIn my opinion, both Cloudflare and NextDNS have their own strengths, and the choice really depends on what’s more important to you. If you’re looking for high speed and simplicity, Cloudflare is a great option, as it’s one of the fastest DNS servers and provides basic privacy protection.
On the other hand, NextDNS offers more customization and is ideal for those who want more control over content filtering, tracker blocking, and enhanced privacy. You can configure blocklists and even view activity reports, giving you more oversight.
If you need a reliable and fast alternative, Cloudflare will do the job. But if customization and privacy are your priority, NextDNS is likely the better choice.
Here's a recent example of their proactive stance on security:For me quad9 as sometimes faster then cloudflare and has faster integration of security features and better intelligence and their support is excellent
