Bitdefender 2020 Released

I'm testing it right now!
The biggest deal breaker fr me is that it breaks steam games writing to documents folder with it's ransomware shield!

I dunno if that should really be a 'dealbreaker.'

Those may get whitelisted pretty quickly.

Or... would it be a big deal to turn off the shield while using steam games?

What else can you tell us?

Seems to be running light for the momment.
Bitdefender should have an option in the tray icon to disable shields rather then going into the ui...makes it much easier.

You can just disable Safe Shield, or remove the document folder from the protected list. Or even whitelist your games as approved applications.
I do not see an option for that.
They protect those folders by default.

Whitelisting is what I normally do but it is very time consuming especially with the amount of games I have.

Hello,
My BDTS (6 months free) is still 2019 :(
Is the reason, because that is a 6 months free key ? :emoji_thinking:

I'm one of the lucky ones that have Bitdefender running in an old Windows 7 machine without any problems. It has been running on my father-in-law's old computer since the 2017 version with no problems.

I really liked it but the fact it does not have an option to turn off protection in the tray icon and the way the Ransomware protection module corrupted my Calibre book library made me stop using it on my personal computers. Their default white list should be really worked on. Calibre is one of the most well known book library managers and it being blocked from accessing its database has no excuses.

Maybe I'll give it a try once more.

Does it use own firewall driver or relys on the windows own firewall (if so, its a big minus for me).
Kindest regards,
-sepik

The German publication CHIP is indicating that Bitdefender does not use excess resources.... may have 'lightened up' for many systems.

I can confirm however there are still bugs:
1..Firewall rules not holding in alert mode.
2..Ransomware module flagged open shell as a hijacker.
3..Steam being blocked from updating unless I disable some modules.

Otherwise it has improved resource wise.
