When will new versions of Bitdefender be released in 2025? Are we already after the update to version 2025 and I overslept?

By the way, I'll ask. If I install Total Security on my computer and want to switch to Internet Security, is there any way to update it? Or do I have to uninstall Total and then install Internet? And vice versa - the same applies to switching from IS to TS?
So what's the easiest way to change the BD version?

They no longer go by year versions i.e. 2024, 2025 but by build numbers. So it will just be a continual updating of the current version.

If you have 2 subscriptions for Total and IS, and you want to change them out, you would need to uninstall one, go to Subscriptions in your Central account and choose the version you want to install.

If you have IS installed and go to the top of the UI/My Account then click Switch Account fill in your login credentials used to create your Central account, it may upgrade you to the TS edition if it's on the same Central account as your IS. You could give it a try, or you could always create two separate accounts if you wanted to.

I thought it was like any competitor's product. New year, some changes and an announcement that it's new.

Thanks for helping me deal with the version change.
Which it can be a little confusing, as some of the websites promote it as 2025, I think it's just their way of saying it's the "current" version for the year we're in.

The app UI and information display it this way.

I installed BD Total Security. And I have some questions.

1. Where is Bittedefender Traffic? Built-in? Do I need to install a plugin? When I started visiting untrusted sites, the network protection reacts. There is no search assistant - where is it? Doesn't it work? I use Firefox
2. After installing, you can feel that it is not Eset. It is harder on the computer. It will probably settle down after a few days.
3. Firefox takes much longer to start (it was faster on Eset). Sites run quickly in BD, similarly to Eset.
4. I set it to ask every time if it should scan USB. And there are no queries. Why?
5. Ant-tracker, is it worth using and enabling the plugin if I have Ublock Origin?
6. Proton VPN Free slows down. It takes a long time to connect to servers. But I will check it out, because maybe Proton itself is having some problems today.
7. Takes a long time to get up from the tray. Eset did it instantly.

Apart from that, it's fine for now.

As far as #6, I checked on two notebooks, one running Eset 18.1.10.0 and one with F-Secure v25.3, they each took about 2 seconds to connect to a US server.
Try restarting your device and reconnecting and see if that helps.

When you turn on Proton VPN, the first connection takes a very long time. Once it connects, disconnecting and reconnecting works at normal speed. Switching servers works too.
I have the impression that BD is tracking or the firewall is wondering whether to let it through the first time.
I'll observe some more.

8. Bitdefender central is a different and better world than Eset Home.

1. So where is the search assistant? There is no green mark in the browser in the search records
2. Not my computer. Only BD. You can see right away how it works. You have to be ignorant at most not to notice that Eset is lighter in the system. I have 16GB RAM, Intel Core i5 - 6600K 3.5Ghz (the fastest processor available in this generation in my country). I don't have a weak computer.
3. What should I use? Brave :D? Or maybe crappy Edge or Chrome?
4. Since I set it to ask me, should it ask? What's unclear here? When I connect an external drive it asks. When I connect USB (32GB and 64GB) it doesn't ask.
5. Should I use BD's anti-tracker or leave only Ublock Origin?
6. Yes - sure :D Should I not use something now because I have BD? Either it will talk to what I want on the computer or BD is not suitable. It should work with what I want, not what BD wants.
7. I won't even comment. I wrote my first impressions. We'll see how it works out after a few days with this Photon of his. At the moment he doesn't get up after clicking. Eset gets up like a soldier at attention.

#5 as you know ;) disable that dreaded Anti-Tracker (it will glitch web pages out randomly), and just use uBlock Light. Bitdefender's Online Threat Prevention will take care of the rest.

That's what I use.

So I did the right thing by not running the BD AntiTracker plugin ;)
But where's the green marker in the search results? BD Traffic had that as a plugin.

1. For the Bitdefender traffic light extension, you will need to go to your browser extension store and download it manually, no option to do that from Bitdefender.
2, 3 and 6. Enable the "Scan only new and modified files" option in setting, it will increase performance.
4. Can't answer
5. I disable Anti-tracker because I use uBlock Origin, it’s redundant.
7. This is normal, it is still running even though it has not shown up in the tray yet.

1. Browsing protection works as if I had the Traffic plugin installed. So the question is why the search assistant doesn't work. I asked the question on the BD forum.
2. I know about these functions. I don't want to help it. Let it quickly adapt to my computer. I'll turn it off later.
3. The question went to the BD forum. I'm waiting
4. Ok. Thx

Doesn't work. Changing the settings doesn't change anything.

More information

9. BD takes about 1.1GB of RAM when idle. 14 running processes (data according to Process Explorer). CPU below 1%, usually no more than 0.5%. Less disk usage than Eset during scanning. On BD disk it takes 2.3GB (according to WizTree).
10. First full system scan - over 55min. After 2h scan less than 6min. Photon does its job.
1. It downloads files much faster through the browser than Eset. It doesn't "freeze" them like Eset and you can use them right away.

If you also wanted to try and get a hold of support, they may have an answer for you as well.
Tick on How To & Troubleshooting box, go through the prompts until you get to the black Contact Support button. You will be given 3 support options, Chat can be the quickest way to get things resolved or at least to head you in the right direction. There is also email and phone support, which is not toll-free.

I don't complain. I write about my impressions. I wrote about Eset, now I write about BD. I don't hide anything. Where I have to praise, I praise (for example, Bitdefender central, it loads the disk less than Eset, it downloads files faster via the browser, etc.) and where there are irritating things, I also mention them.
And Bitdefender Central is one of the better portals for managing, remotely controlling other devices on the account.

The answers to this are here. I have no idea if this makes sense. It's a bit strange. I would like to decide by asking whether to scan or not. Maybe they will change this.

In any case, it seems to work correctly for me. When using USB, it doesn't ask (only for the first time and when I select USB Immunizer, there is silence with a question for a given USB). In the case of an external drive, for example 1TB, it asks whether to scan.

That leaves Search Advisor. It still doesn't work.
On the other hand, I don't use Google search engine but DuckDuckGo. According to what you can read on DDG, it doesn't work. But it doesn't work on Google either for me.

Bitdefender after 24 hours on the computer
When we wake up his console, a fifteenth process is added and additionally between 150 and 180 MB of RAM is added (this fifteenth process is not in the picture)

While I like the protection that Bitdefender provides, but I don't understand why it's developed to work this way, it still relies heavily on signatures while other antivirus software are now using the cloud to be lighter on resources.
