Functionality can be disabled, but everything stays present in the UI after you disabled it.Stock Brave with bloat.....I still don't get that. Rewards, Wallet, VPN icon, etc can be disabled or hidden. Brave, is a sweet ride for me.

Neither of them can be really disabled for years. It is like settings in Windows, it does nothing.Rewards, Wallet, VPN icon, etc can be disabled or hidden.

Which is true for the Settings page, but once it's configured for the Browser toolbar, I find it very clean looking, bloat free.Functionality can be disabled, but everything stays present in the UI after you disabled it.
I never thought to check that (I don't use a DNS). Thanks for the postNeither of them can be really disabled for years. It is like settings in Windows, it does nothing.
You can check Brave bugs reports, where webpages were blocked like by disabled Brave Shield.
I have never enabled Brave Rewards and yet Brave attempts connections to variations.brave.com.

Why is Brave connecting to ad domains?
On iOS Brave is connecting below domains. How can I prevent it from connecting these domains? Thankfully my DNS is blocking all of these queries. Rewards, VPN, data sharing options are already disabled. search.anonymous.ads.brave.com geo.ads.brave.com variations.brave.com...discuss.privacyguides.net

Impressive, "Features: Click here to view".If you're going to use Brave, why not just run it through the SlimBrave powershell script and be done with it. It'll remove all that needless crypto, VPN, telemetry crap, and you won't need to pay for Brave Origin..

variations.brave.com is related to Griffin, Brave's equivalent of Google Finch, based on Chromium's variations service but without sending data to Google. It's a feature experimentation and A/B testing system.I prefer the Chrome model of earning their living through data collection, rather than inserting uninstallable items inside the browser. In the case of Brave—crypto, Rewards, VPN, and Leo Premium are all part of the revenue model
At least Google is very open about their business model and it's constantly the same.I prefer the Chrome model of earning their living through data collection, rather than inserting uninstallable items inside the browser.
and I have real doubts Brave is not collecting data, just as Chrome, in addition to the revenue from the extra elements of AI, crypto, and vpn.At least Google is very open about their business model and it's constantly the same.
This proves they are not really "features".Usually companies charge for the addition of features, Brave would be brave enough to start charging for removal of features.
Classic greed dressed in promises for privacy.
Oh, they are collecting data, don't worry, through their P3A tool. It's opt-out so you have to disable it manually. Anonymous or not, they still collect data.and I have real doubts Brave is not collecting data, just as Chrome, in addition to the revenue from the extra elements of AI, crypto, and vpn.
THIS. If you want people to pay to disable the features, then they aren't features at all more like annoyance. This proves they are not really "features".
This is just another company following the trend to make things "premium", and subscription based. Apparently they can't make enough $$$ from the ads, crypto and premium Brave Search. What do you think about this?

I'll keep using it as well because on Android I don't really have an alternative. But, until that time actually comes, I'll keep using Brave and see what the options are. Right now, it's just a lot of hand wringing![]()
On Android I also have FF installed with uBlock, but I still like Brave better, its built in ad blocker, layout out, and settings work well for me.I'll keep using it as well because on Android I don't really have an alternative.
