i re-did my security.

is this too much? not enough?

are these security softwares compatible?

my norton safe web disabled for no reason. my avira extension disappeared for no reason.

i am a PC beginner.

No. Enable UAC.

Enable UAC to default (at least), also use an external Image System Backup solution: Macrium Reflect Free or AOMEI Backupper.

Also, use a non browser integrated password manager, in fact, currently there is a serious security issue with FF password manager, that will be fixed soon, but meanwhile...

If you do not have external storaghe give Freeware to Create Recovery Partition on Hard Drive | AOMEI OneKey Recovery Free a try. It will even help create a new partition to backup to.

Never save your passwords using the browser password manager because of security problems.
A good alternative is Best Password Manager – Free & Secure Vault | Sticky Password

i have an external hard drive. i have my files on it. i would like to put an image of just my operating system on it. which free software does that?

You can use Macrium Reflect free for your purpose.
Create a OS image and save it on your external HDD.

i had a password manager. i got a new PC and could not get my passwords.

Follow the advice's giving by the users in your thread here, it is all sound. As for Password managers, try Lastpass as suggested, it is stored and accessed in the cloud, so even if you use someone else's system, you can access your passwords. You can also create backups from most password managers and place then on a external device should something happen and you require access again.

As i always say: if you use a suite, you shouldn't need to add stuff like comodo FW or whatever.

if you like BD engine, remove BDTS and replace it with BD free or any BD-using AV.
