Hello everyone,
1. I seem to have the "ExstraCoupon" (or similar variants) virus and I'm having trouble in completely removing it from my system. I'm unsure how I got it, I'm not the type of person who downloads anything and everything.
2. It started off when I noticed there was a lot of nonsense-named folders in "ProgramFiles" and "ProgramData" (IIRC). Such folders were called "CHEApeMee", "TakeTheCOeupon", "RobboSSaver" etc.

3. After a bit of work and virus/malware scans, I thought I'd gotten rid of it...
4. That was until I accidentally created a file without an extension.

5. In regedit.exe, I tried removing all instances of "exstra" / "coupon" / "coupoun". It seems it's all gone.
6. However, when I create a new file and remove the extension, another instance of the virus is found in 'regedit'.
7. Not sure if it's relevant, but MSE won't let me update the virus definitions, but this may be permissions related.

8. I mainly use IE 11 (don't give me grief at this time
) but I'm looking to permanently change browser in the near future. That said, I noticed this on 'Manage Add-ons'. I can't get rid of them. I can only disable some:

9. I reset IE settings to default but this did not seem to have an impact on my "Favourites" or "Add-Ons".
10. I ran AdwCleaner and removed a bunch of PUPs/viruses however the virus name still shows up when I have a file without an extension. Unfortunately logs not available.
11. I ran HitmanPro and removed offending files however the virus name still shows up when I have a file without an extension. Logs available.
If possible, no complex PC jargon, I'm not that technical.
Cheers in advance!
