RE: CCleaner v4.05.4250 released

Thanks, update now. It's one of my favorite PC cleaning & optimization tool. The only annoy is the free edition can't update in background, I have to repeat the download and install operation.

RE: CCleaner v4.05.4250 released

I usually update every other release.

The current version works well at cleaning the "main areas" of Windows, so updating isn't a priority.

RE: CCleaner v4.05.4250 released

I like Ccleaner because it deletes files directly from msconfig.
This is a good option if you remove files from unwanted or malicious programs.

RE: CCleaner v4.05.4250 released

Less is better, usually.

A tool I like, but use with caution is Autoruns by SysInternals, you can disable items you don't need to be running.
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb963902.aspx

Installing more software will cause more start-up item and cause slow downs, the better way is to manually disable or set to manual use, with the software you already have (ie. CCleaner / msconfig), or tools that can be used on-demand (no background services) to assist in making the right decision.

RE: CCleaner v4.05.4250 released

So a system like windows 7 Ccleaner, smart defrag, and CleanMemwill are sufficient?
You will not need any more maintenance tool for pc?

The hole story started .. when lots of ppl is advised in using CCcleaner..

CCCleaner should Similar act as a virus.. because it open port's so virus can attack pc on these ports..

So my help goes now..
Could anybody here come with some info..
Is that Program safe or unsecure.. (we talking the free version)

If its got to phone home I believe the ports are simple for checking for updates and nothing more.

Could you list which ports it opens? Have you monitored the traffic to see which requests are being made? (outbound/inbound?) and if so which programs did you use to monitor?

I've always looked at CCleaner as a great, safe and free reliable program and it's going to take a lot of malicious evidence to get me to change my view. So feel free.

RE: CCleaner v4.05.4250 released

CCleaner is safe to use and can be download for free from their official website, or from a trusted mirror such as FileHippo.com, MajorGeeks.com or Softpedia.com

RE: CCleaner v4.05.4250 released

Thx for the answers..

Its not me, that says the program is unsecure and open ports..
It could be nice to know which ports we are talking about..

The best part.. The man is a it-security expert and worked with in the last 30 years :)
Maybe he should deal with other than that.. ;)

RE: CCleaner v4.05.4250 released

The only thing i have ever seen out of Ccleaner, is the fact the installer comes bundled with "googleware", of which i opt out of upon first install on others machines..

Other then this little "annoyance", i have yet to catch it doing anything malicious, an i have been using it for a long time now.. Im sure others here will agree, it is safe..
