v.JPG Hi there, I'm having chrome.exe and dllhost.exe multiples running in my process list, creating 100% cpu usage and slowing my computer down. Avira and Adaware are going off and detecting things, but nothing works. Thanks in advance! I uploaded the files the sticky note said to, as well as a pic of my process list in case that helps. Also maybe helpful to know, my browser is now completely slow and near useless. Making an account on here took a while because I kept getting redirected to yahoo search results when trying to load something - random.

Helllo,

Before we begin, please note the following:
  • I will working be on your Malware issues, this may or may not, solve other issues you have with your machine.
  • The logs can take some time to research, so please be patient with me.
  • Stay with the topic until I tell you that your system is clean. Missing symptoms does not mean that everything is okay.
  • Instructions that I give are for your system only!
  • Please do not run any tools until requested ! The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.
  • Please perform all steps in the order received. If you can't understand something don't hesitate to ask.
  • Again I would like to remind you to make no further changes to your computer unless I direct you to do so. I will not help you if you do not follow my instructions.

After a long scan, the results showed nothing to clean. Checked task manager again and the problem remains the same as I stated in the beginning.

FRST.gif
Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.

Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

Always have one (and no more than one!) AntiVirus program! In this case having more of them will not provide you with better protection - instead they may cause slowness, lock-ups and even mark another ones as harmful, leading to leave your system unstable and even damaged. Please choose only one from the listed below to stay with and uninstall the others:
  • Avira
  • Ad-Aware

Uninstallation procedure:
  • Press the
    WindowsKey.png
+ R on your keyboard at the same time. Type appwiz.cpl and click OK.
  • Search for each uninstalled entry, right-click it and select Uninstall.
This should be done until any other steps will be taken.

You need to exit MalwareBytes in your tray area. Right click and select Exit.

Re-run MBAR again.

I Have the Google Chrome Virus as described above. I ran the MalwareBytes and it seemed to find two viruses and cleaned them. I want to make sure the virus is removed. Here is my FSS file. I could not find the Addition.txt file. I found the FSS FILE on my desktop here it is. What is the next step? Is my computer clean? Thanks Dave C

Ok I deleted Adaware first, restarted computer, applied your fix, re-scanned with mbar - clean again. The dllhost and similar weird exe names seem to be gone and CPU usage is back to normal. However, with Chrome browser open (no other tabs open), I have 11 chrome.exe's open in task manager. It doesn't seem to be affecting my usage, but why so many still there? Is this normal or am I still infected? Thanks for your continued support!

This is normal, don't worry.

Download DelFix by Xplode and save it to your desktop.
  • Run the tool by right click on the
    51a5ce45263de-delfix.png
icon and Run as administrator option.
  • Make sure that these ones are checked:
    • Remove disinfection tools
    • Purge system restore
    • Reset system settings
  • Push Run and wait until the tool completes his work.
  • All tools we used should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt)
The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

Everything seems to be okay for now. Thank you so much, I greatly appreciate it. I'll be having you check out my laptop soon as well if you wouldn't mind. I'll be tipping you extra $ for sure.

Everything is okay now. 1. Appleshampoo who started this post was very helpful in his description.
2. I was surprised how little there was on the internet about this virus if it wasn't for malewaretips I would be lost.
3. I used eset.com online virus scanner to remove it. I think this happened between my first post and the second one, as they just added the removal of the virus to their database. 4. No other virus scanner seemed to find it now even Microsoft. 5. I think all is ok Happy New Year!

I may have spoken to soon. I got a new message that pops up randomly, is this part of the same virus? It warns me to not turn off icloud drive. I get this message if I try to hit close on the bottom right. If I hit sign out bottom left, the picture below shows up. ( I am not signed in to Icloud) I have not rebooted my computer. Here is the message I get.
