What do you guys think of these devices?

The hardware by Samsung seems quite nice but I don't think I could get by with Chrome OS, which is basically the Chrome browser on top of a think layer of operating system. A major advantage is that there's no need (yet) to worry about malware as there isn't much of an OS to be targeted.

I agree Tom,I have looked at some of these while I was in best buy but I dont think I would purchase them.Price is pretty good. The lower chance of malware is nice but it's just like Apple, give it time and they too will be exploited

More and more people are using their Smartphones, it would be no different for the Chromebook (Chrome OS), as long as their is demand for the apps.

They say this:

For virus haters

Viruses, malware and other nasties are taken care of. No extra software (or worrying) required.

Wonder what they use then to protect themselves.

I think they mean that the OS out of the box is so securely robust, that you don't need to worry about AV software. They also seem to imply you don't need to use your brain.

I'd buy one.

I remember the early releases of Chrome OS, and people slated it for being as good as useless without Internet access. Now since that seems to be remedied, it makes a lot more sense than it used to. Nice piece of kit for sure.

They are mainly good for people who mostly use the Internet.

I have watched a video review about the latest chromebook by Samsung, but the guy who reviewed it seems to have got a defective unit. Try the one that you bought before leaving the store. I will post the videos here when I find the link. Also the same guy reviewed Ubuntu on that chromebook.

It would have been far more useful and better even if it had Andriod Jelly Bean optimized for mouse support. But i think there is a switch below the battery compartment which you can flip to install a different OS.

Ubuntu or Android on a Chromebook? No thanks!

Chrome OS is what it's all about. I bet Chrome OS boasts hella lot more features than Android.

I was looking to buy one of these for my girlfriend, however they aren't available in my country..... They look pretty good and the price is darn cheap.... Chromebook is still new however it should be able to perform most activities that a Windows laptop does (well a similar priced notebook..)
For what are you going to use Chromebook? Only browsing the web or you have other expectations?

Here is a very good review :
