I have been using the latest firewall only version of CIS,for quite a while now in tandem with Qihu360,with good results [on Win8.1 (64bit) and google Chrome]

Recently however I have noticed a slowdown in my internet browsing.
Speedtest shows the same value whether the firewall is enabled/disabled.
Is there any particular setting that should be adjusted /changed or is this an intrinsic aspect when using the Comodo firewall.

The laptop has been thoroughly scanned for malware and I can report it as being "clean".

Thanks for any advice!:)

I set the firewall to "safe mode" when I used Comodo. Allowed pop-ups too. I do not remember tweaking it much.

Web filters can be frustrating when surfing, like the case with Webroot Secure Anywhere. Maybe it is something along those lines.

Yes it could be Qihu related too I guess!
Will uninstall it temporarily and see what happens

Could also be Adblock/Ghostery slowing things down?
Will experiment with a few settings and report back.
Thanks!

Check your browser add-ons for a line-item related to either real-time security program. Then shut it down temporarily to see if you consistently notice a difference. ZoneAlarm had some browser add-on that slowed me down a bit too. Another web filter maybe? I don't know.

Thank you Gnosis for the input.
Qihu does in fact have a web filter bit it does not work in Chrome, not yet anyway!
I'm thinking that "network protection module" may be the culprit!

Will report back!:)

"network protection module" sounds like a possible culprit, indeed.

Well that seems to have resolved the browsing issue for me!
I unticked that module.

Thanks for the advice!

Thanks!
And thank you for the advice:)

Did you accept Comodo DNS upon installing the firewall, depending on how close their nearest server is may be effecting also.

Thats a very valid question!

I did set the servers initially to Comodo DNS, but then changed to Open DNS,after i used this tool to benchmark the servers.
Open DNS was the fastest for my circumstances.

Can you suggest a better DNS server for the Sydney Australia area,or should I obtain the server automatically,ie default?

Thanks!

I find the default to usually be the fastest for me.
