Comodo Hijack Cleaner - v0.2.3 - BETA - Beta Corner - CHC

Hi All,
We are pleased to introduce a new tool, COMODO Hijack Cleaner, which covers the areas, we have not covered yet.

Following are main functions of it:
  • Makes sure all browser extensions are safe
  • Ensures your browser uses a legitimate search engine
  • Checks your home page and new blank page don't link to malware
  • Makes sure your host file has not been poisoned
  • Ensures desktop shortcuts open the correct browser and not a fake version
  • Makes sure your computer (browser) uses a trusted DNS provider
  • It is portable. It is designed as a tool. Simply unzip the file and execute the binary

You can see screen shots and usage in online help.

Supported browsers:
It supports Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox and Internet Explorer. Support for Comodo Dragon and Ice Dragon being added.

Supported Operating Systems:
Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 10

Roadmap:
- We would be adding this tool in Comodo Cleaning Essentials toolkit
- Detection capabilities of this tool will be added in other Comodo products starting with Comodo Cloud Antivirus by 3rd quarter.

BETA - Warning:
Following setup is a BETA setup and it is not recommended to test on production machine and it is intended only for beta testers.
So please try at your own risk.

As I feel that the arbitrary use of extensions by the Home User presents a greater threat for the lifting of personal information than typical malware ever would, this application can be groundbreaking- as long as it has an updated list of malicious extensions.

Nonetheless, it still essentially a "Portable' application as it needs no installation, so it will do no harm.
