Compumedics has been targeted by the VanHelsing ransomware group, which stole files from the company’s systems.
Compumedics was recently targeted in a ransomware attack that resulted in the personal information of hundreds of thousands of individuals getting stolen.
Compumedics makes medical technologies for the diagnosis of sleep and neurological disorders. The company’s global headquarters are in Australia, but it also has a presence in the United States and Europe.

The company informed customers in a data security notice that its systems were accessed by hackers between February 15 and March 23, 2025. The breach was discovered on March 22.
An investigation showed that the attackers copied some files, including ones containing the information of the patients of nearly a dozen US healthcare providers that use Compumedics services.
The compromised information includes names, dates of birth, demographic details, medical records, and in some cases Social Security numbers and health insurance information.
The US Department of Health and Human Services’ healthcare data breach tracker revealed this week that Compumedics USA reported 318,150 affected individuals.
It’s not uncommon for healthcare data breaches to impact hundreds of thousands and even millions of individuals.
Compumedics has not shared any details on the intrusion itself, but a ransomware group named VanHelsing took credit for an attack on the company on March 26, claiming to have stolen files from its systems.
The VanHelsing group emerged in March 2025, but appears to have been active for only a few weeks, naming less than a dozen victims. Its Tor-based website seems to have been inactive since early April.
