I tried the conventional methods of removing this as well as the directions outlined on the main page of this website and it still persisted. Looking through the other threads seemed to give the users successful results so any help would be much appreciated. I have the FRST scan logs but I don't really feel like posting all of my software keys publicly on the internet, so would it be feasible if I were just to personal message whomever responds to this thread to help me?

Also, I'm curious what does the scripts that you write for each user actually do?

Thanks a lot.

Hi,

You can be sure that all reports we use here are not used for any bad purpose. Please post the reports and I'll delete them after I see them.

I believe you that you won't do anything bad with them, I just don't like them hanging around online :)

Digging further into my computer I've come to conclude that it looks like the PUM.bad.proxy malware/virus, do you know if this is something that I should resolve by formatting my computer?

You do not need to reformat your computer, we can fix this very easy :)

If you are unsure, then send me reports via Private Message. Click on my Picture and choose Start a Conversation.

Thanks :) I'll send you the files in a minute, let me just generate a fresh copy as I've run a few virus scans/cleans and restarted my computer since then.

Download attached fixlist.txt on the same location as FRST (otherwise the fix won't work)
NOTICE: This script was written specifically for this user, for use on that particular machine. Running this on another machine may cause damage to the operating system

Open FRST, and click Fix. Attach me that report after it is finished.

Fixed that up, running scans now. Hitmanpro still picks up the proxy server, though malwarebytes and others do not pick anything up. Sending you the FRSTs in a moment.

I can recommend you this software to avoid Adware in the future. Unchecky is very light and install and forget program. It works in background and has auto update feature, so beleive me you will forget it is installed.

http://unchecky.com/

Read here how it works --> http://www.howtogeek.com/179758/how-to-avoid-junkware-offers-with-unchecky/

The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

=> Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop.

Run the tool and check the following boxes below;
checkmark.png
Remove disinfection tools
checkmark.png
Create registry backup
checkmark.png
Purge System Restore

Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.
At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt)

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.
