Windows 10 Creators Update is already feature-complete, so Microsoft is specifically focused on fixing bugs and improving performance now, and a new report coming from unofficial channels indicates that the RTM version is on the table for the first half of March.

While a confirmation cannot be provided at the moment, WZor, who has a good track on leaking information on previous versions of Windows, reveals via WinCore that Windows 10 Creators Update RTM could be signed off by Microsoft between March 7 and March 14 this year.

While such a target date does make sense and it all sounds like a Captain Obvious report, it’s important to know that once the RTM version becomes available, no other changes would be made to the operating system. In other words, Microsoft has less than a month to finalize work on the Creators Update.

The existing bug bash programs are obviously essential for the final version of Windows 10 Creators Update, so the next few builds would include plenty of fixes and zero new features.

Insiders getting it first
Windows insiders who are participating in Microsoft’s preview program will be the first to get the RTM version of Windows 10 Creators Update, and if this report is accurate, they should get it shortly after March 14.

Windows 10 Creators Update is due in April, and according to people close to the matter, it’ll be version 1704, which is a direct reference to its release date. Microsoft labels Windows releases with versions that include the year of launch and the month, so in this case 17 stands for 2017 and 04 represents the month.

Shortly after the release of the Creators Update, Microsoft is expected to start work on preview builds of Redstone 3, the next Windows 10 update that should be released to users in the fall of this year. Windows 10 Redstone 3 will continue the series of improvements started in RS2, and insiders should start seeing bigger changes preview builds in the summer, after the company releases a few builds preparing their introduction.

Thanks for the tip, NecrosoftCore!
