Smartphones are intended to remain powered on, always connected.

What is the main purpose of this software?

Shutting down requires the user to enter the password again; less secure biometric methods do not work. In this state (with a sufficient password), the data is better protected against unauthorized access. Realistic scenarios are theft, especially with sensitive (company) data.
