By using beta products, you risk running into unknown problems. You'll be doing them a favor because then they'll get more reports from crash dumps/manual support requests which helps them resolve issues quickly before pushing new updates out to the rest of the user-base. Either way, AVG will continue to make a lot of money from the ordinary home user and enterprise sales.
Bear in mind, AVG was acquired by AVAST a long time ago. If you are not a fan of AVAST, or distrust them, then AVG won't be for you. If you do not mind AVG having been acquired by AVAST, it could be a good deal for you as long as you understand the risks with beta testing security software... the last thing you want is for it to stop working when you need it the most.
