Solved Does cryptowall create further infections on an already infected computer?

my question is, whether the virus will create further infection point, because I noticed that some of my files are not encrypted and seem untouched. I quickly made a copy of them on a usb stick (it's pretty important because it is my MA grad thesis). But I'm not sure if they are really unaffected or can further infect a laptop if I open it.
