EA is hosting a huge sale in celebration of over 40 million members on Origin.

EA's hosting a Player Appreciation Sale in celebration of upping Origin's user base to over 40 million. Not two months ago, Origin sat at the 39 million user mark. The hype generated from SimCity over the past few months have helped cushion those numbers. Apparently, despite the server issues that SimCity suffered, Origin still saw over 1.3 million concurrent users.

In any case, over 200 games—not only EA-published games, mind you—are on sale for the next week. Some of the best deals we've found are included below:

· Battlefield 3 Premium – 50% off - $24.99

· Crysis 3 – 50% off - $29.99

· Dead Space 3 – 50% off - $29.99

· Mass Effect 3 – 50% off - $10

· Batman: Arkham City GOTY – 60% off - $12.00

· The Walking Dead – 60% off - $10.00

· Hitman: Absolution – 70% off - $15.00

· Saint's Row the Third: The Full Package – 50% off - $24.99

· Assassin's Creed III – 30% off - $34.99

· Bulletstorm – 50% off - $9.99

Exactly.

And speaking of SimCity, as much as I'd like to play it, I refuse to purchase any single player game that requires a constant online connection. That is completely ridiculous.

It's also entertaining that they're still not admitting it is a DRM tool. They're saying that many of the calculations required for the game are done in the cloud, and a single player offline experience just isn't possible. Then of course, one of Maxis' programmers (who wishes to remain anonymous of course) has come forward and said that the only calculations done in the cloud are for inter-city commerce. (multiplayer aspects) The single player experience requires nothing from the cloud.

The biggest issue with games such as this (aside from those with crappy connections) is forced obsolescence. When EA decides its time for you to upgrade, you will have to upgrade. When they turn off the SimCity 2013 servers, you will no longer be able to play the game. Your disk will be useless. :@ I'm sure most of the people who purchased the game haven't considered this aspect of it...

That was like Combat Training in Black Ops (1), you needed to be connected to Xbox Live or PSN, and with server maintenance periods, you couldn't play it.

I like playing Simcity as well and i was playing Diablo 3 earlier which also had DRM, was a pain for the most part due to server overload or connectivity issue's and if for you have internet issue or away from internet god have mercy on your soul for entertainment :P
