BIS 2013 reported by some users on dealing performance issues.

You may check this recently issue by a user. (thread)

If dealing for better protection then you may give a shot for Emsisoft Pack. Their firewall is also a good component for it.

I've mention it from the previous post, I prefer EAM over BIS in terms of protection which really continuously prove in recent years.

EIS is better bcz it has 2 engines eg. Bitdefender and own . also less system impact... if your system slow then you can run HITMANPRO for virus check..

BIS 2013 is the most buggy security product that I have ever tried since Norton AV back in 2002.

Just beware if you decide to uninstall it because it leaves behind boot drives that causes all sorts of problems.

Emsisoft AM is a much better and stable product, however Online Armor is an aggressive HIPS product. If you take the time to configure it then it should work very well. After your system is declared free of all malware, it is best to run it on learning mode for awhile until it learns your system programs. Just don't go and download files or install new unknown programs with it on learning mode. If the HIPS is too much for you then it can be disabled and used as a firewall only.

Your system should get better performance with Emsisoft if you successfully remove all traces of BitDefender correctly first.

Enjoy!!:D

superboy123: Scanning time matters may depends on the number of files and its hardware processor contributed in order to finish it.

So the minimum of requirements you meet then its performance may allocate a bit to work it seamlessly.

Both of these products are a bit bulky (especially Emsisoft). They may provide top tier protection, but they will slow down your machine unless you're running something very current i.e. X4 CPU w/ 8GB RAM. With anything less, you can likely expect a little bit of performance degradation. Unless you're extremely virus prone and/or surf a lot of porn and warez sites (being honest) you likely don't need a full security suite and will probably be OK with a more lightweight AntiVirus. i.e. BitDefender AV vs BitDefender Internet Security or Emsisoft Anti-Malware vs. Emsisoft Internet Security Pack. I was able to get by for a long time using Panda Cloud and an occasional MalwareBytes or Hitman pro scan. Most people will be fine with that as long as they're not browsing the aforementioned websites and are using google chrome w/ AdBlock Plus.

Man that is true about BIS only not EAM. Right now I'm running Comodo Internet security 6 + EAM and works just great.
Here is resources usage
[attachment=4110]
as you can see both CIS + EAM is just around 30 MB
And I have got all real-time protection modules activated except Comodo HIPS ( in version 6 all work is done by BB)
There is only 1 software house that can be GLOBALLY (detection rate, firewall, zero-day, resource usage, malware removal ....) compared to Emsisoft and that is Kaspersky
CIS + EAM is just top notch you can get in security

The amount of RAM doesn't equal slowdown. And the low amount seen in the task manager very often doesn't tell much as some is hidden in system processes, you can also look at the paged and the virtual as well. And the weakest link in the chain is usually the disk I/O, as the hard drive is the slowest part in the equation unless you have a SSD.

with EAM you will have some slowdown (depend the system) only during boot and updates. On idle EAM is quite low on resources.
