Of course, this will do diddly unless you're still using a CRT display, and even then, the difference will only be marginal. (it doesn't take much more power to display colors other than black onscreen)
With LED/LCD displays, it only uses extra energy to change states. Once the color of a pixel is set, it takes no more power to keep it that way. Your monitors backlights are still required to display black onscreen, so having a black background will consume the same amount of power as
any static background. So once you've loaded a YouTube page, whether the background is the default static theme, or completely black, you're using the same amount of electricity.
This is why the battery life of digital ebook readers such as Kindle have great battery lifespan if all you're doing is reading books, because power is only required for page turns.
But this is really beside the point, because isn't the idea to not use electricity for an hour?

It doesn't do much good to turn off the lights, but still run other electrical devices.
