Operating System
Windows 8
Infection date and initial symptoms
Its has been going on about a month.
Current issues and symptoms
I have my email in my address book. They are sending me junk to me and it goes to my junk folder. It wont let me block because I can't block myself.
Steps taken in order to remove the infection
I have contacted Microsoft and they have ran several scans on my computer. They could not find anything. I ran window defender, and what ever scans they used. I also just ran a scan 2 times with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Nothing showed up there. Microsoft found ask.com in my default search engines.I removed it from there.

I have changed my password many times. I use outlook.com for email. I use a 2 step security for protection. My 2nd step it send a password to my phone so I can get into my email. They are still getting into by passing my security protection. I only have 6 people in my address book. My husband is 1 of them and he is not getting any emails from me. They are just sending them to me.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay for the repair.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

That is great to know. I am still receiving emails from myself that I am not sending. Any clue what that might be? I was thinking that would be some kind of Malware. This is what Microsoft told me. Thank you for your time.

I have changed it many times. I even have a 2 step security set on it. To log in I have to put my password in and then put the last 4 digits of my phone number in and then I get a text with a security code I put in. I log out of my email when I am done and I still get those emails.

Exactly what I was thinking :)

This is spam email, technique called spoofing. It fools the receiver to believe someone else is using the account.

There is no much one can do about this, for now, you can only hope such emails ends up in spambox. If you get a lot of these messages from the same address, then we can save spammer email address and we can report it.

I get 4-6 a day.I think I am going to just send them to phishing scam and be done with it. I was worried they had something on my lap top and they could take over and know all my business. Like passwords and etc.....
