In general it's worth it, but what is your alternative? There are some other products that perform comparably (e.g. Bitdefender TS, Norton, F-Secure, ESET) and some of those products frequently go on sale unlike Emsisoft, leading to more reasonable total cost if money is an issue. Emsisoft AM is great overall. I would say their most unique feature is the Cloud Console, which allows you to remotely administer and get email alerts from Emsisoft through a web portal -- this is great for keeping an eye on a bunch of systems that you don't personally use (parents/family, VMs, etc). Nothing beats getting an email about a virus detection and then calling up my dad and asking what he's up to. Before I would just come home a year later to find an adware-infested mess because he followed some instructions to disable the AV. Emsisoft's main weakness I would argue is relying on BitDefender signatures. Looking in the Malware Hub, its static detection rate is pretty much one of the lowest. However, it makes up for this through its industry leading behavior blocker, though sometimes said behavior blocker can be too sensitive and result in false positive alerts. I would say, from an AV side, Emsisoft is overall strong primarily thanks to the behavior blocker, and is also great for detecting zero-day threats.
