The title says it all - which one is better and why?

I'm currently using Emsisoft Internet Security 9 beta and I really like it; not too sure how secure the firewall is etc.,

My vote goes for Emsisoft Internet Security, but you can choose based on my observations:
Emsisoft is quite stable and uses dual-core scanning, which the other scanner is Bitdefender's. Kaspersky offers a slew of features, like Safe Money and Parental Controls, while Emsisoft IS is basically just Anti-Malware and Online Armor slapped together at a discounted price. My biggest buga with Kaspersky are that it:
-Starts very late (30 minutes after startup)
-Application Takes Long To Load (20 Minutes More)
-UI depends on back button and it freezes all the time

KIS!
Chromatinfish, I have a low-end laptop. I used KIS on it before. But I haven't noticed those problems. Yes, KIS does takes time to load at startup, but for me, it's just around 1-3 mins. I experience no freeze in UI except the bug on the application control which, I believe, was fixed.

I really like both. I have 2 notebook, the oldest I use Emsisoft 8. Believe that kaspersky has a base of most users, and a structure and superior logistics. Both offer you great protection. What prevents me from using kaspersky is its gigantic boot time as you Chroma yourself mentioned, I agree with you bother much ... One of the reasons that other Emsisoft use this notebook is. On my other laptop newest eset use.

I agree with Umbra, I voted for Emsisoft, KIS is also good but heavy on some machines..on a killer machine, you can't noticed about it, also yes...NIS 2009 is heavy, even heavier than kaspersky, however Norton 360 is light though, they made a good improvement :)

Please try this tutorial:

Un-checking "Concede resources to operating system when the computer starts" will normally speed up the process when the application starts. If not, it will take a while as the main interface has to load after you are logged in.
