I am trying out Emsisoft Internet Security 9 as I have a license key. I have about 15 apps installed from the Windows 8 store, but none of them will update or refresh, I just keep getting error messages. I looked in Emsisoft's settings under 'application rules' and rules like:

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\104RobertNjane.TheGuardian_1.0.0.0_neutral__zxkacctavt2ag\AppStudio.exe

Has custom rules created by Emsisoft, I have to manually change the settings for behavior blocker and firewall to allow all. I have also tried to install the latest Windows 8.1 updates, I left the laptop and returned to find all had failed, turning off Emsisoft the updates were successful. I am really confused at why Emsisoft would block native Windows features, even built in Apps i.e., calendar and news & weather are blocked. Is this normal, Kaspersky, even with Trusted Applications Mode enabled never blocked Windows updates/Apps?

Do you have Beta Updates enabled?

What settings are you using for Firewall rules creation for newly installed apps?

Just a suggestion...

No matter which settings you are using, the best way to get this issue resolved is to post it on the Emsisoft Support forum (not via e-mail Technical Support ticket).

It is extremely likely that a senior Emsi Staff member will address your post directly...as they will want to know more about this issue.

I can assure you that Emsi is not deliberately blocking Windows Update or legitimate Metro Apps.

If you post on the Emsi support forum, it will be all right...

No all the settings are at default. I have posted the question on their support forum, they are an excellent company with great customer service, so I hope they can help. All works now as I've allowed all the Apps, I just wanted to know if that's the default from the behavior blocker.

Fabian Wosar usually addresses those types of issues.

On their forum you're in good hands... :D
