Be careful with open source soft,

if you read the Eula, there owner says they are not responsible in any sort of damages and that you use the soft in your own risk, that is the black point of open source software, with copyrighted soft you don't have this responsibility on your own, you are more protected. for my purpose i trust open source soft, only for none system operation in the windows or mac folder, because if the kernel it self is open source, it's very dangerous because you can not secure your physical drivers (CPU), the admin right goes to the creator of the OS, open source soft are like a deep virtual machine controlling your mother board component.

Also, in my knowledge it's not possible to have an open source kernel even for government, it does not exist, all kernel even UNIX are copyrighted but the copyright is it self encrypted, so i believe the danish gov want to spy on there citizens, not with a kernel but a micro kernel : Microkernels very different from a kernel.

ParametersMicrokernel Monolithic kernel (Microsoft steal the technology of Linus Torvald)
Address SpaceIn microkernel, user services and kernel services are kept in separate address space. In monolithic kernel, both user services and kernel services are kept in the same address space.
Design and ImplementationOS is complex to design.OS is easy to design and implement.
SizeMicrokernel are smaller in size.Monolithic kernel is larger than microkernel.
FunctionalityEasier to add new functionalities.Difficult to add new functionalities.
CodingTo design a microkernel, more code is required.Less code when compared to microkernel
FailureFailure of one component does not effect the working of micro kernel.Failure of one component in a monolithic kernel leads to the failure of the entire system.
Processing SpeedExecution speed is low.Execution speed is high.
ExtendIt is easy to extend Microkernel. It is not easy to extend monolithic kernel.
CommunicationTo implement IPC messaging queues are used by the communication microkernels.Signals and Sockets are utilized to implement IPC in monolithic kernels.
DebuggingDebugging is simple.Debugging is difficult.
MaintainIt is simple to maintain.Extra time and resources are needed for maintenance.
Message passing and Context switchingMessage forwarding and context switching are required by the microkernel.Message passing and context switching are not required while the kernel is working.
ServicesThe kernel only offers IPC and low-level device management services. The Kernel contains all of the operating system's services.
ExampleExample : Mac OS.Example : Microsoft Windows 95.

The only real open source OS kernel is here : GitHub - torvalds/linux: Linux kernel source tree (verified a million times by experts in securty technology and lots of contributors (around 20.000)
no backdoor nothing that can harm your physical drivers (LKML: Linus Torvalds: Re: [GIT PULL] usercopy whitelisting for v4.15-rc1).

Yes, guys, there are indeed a few distributions like Zorin, Fedora or Mint where the flatpak (analog of the Windows application store for all Linux distributions) works out of the box. But in most of them you have to activate the flatpak through the console, and then install programs from the flatpak portal through the console.

Of course, this is a huge improvement over the zoo of packages that used to be available for each distro.
But Linux graphic environments such as Gnome etc already come packed with software that is sufficient to cover the needs of an average user. More can be downloaded from respective app website, as well as via the shell.

This is on the condition that the user is satisfied with the built-in version of Firefox, no Telegram, VLC, software for VPN, etc. The rest, favorite software, will have to be installed via flatpak.

The main problem I see with adopting Linux is that support for Linux systems is often more expensive than support for Windows systems, so any cost savings are eventually offset by the lack of Windows licensing.

Also, we have users who:

  • Can’t save a file unless the save icon looks like a disk and is exactly where they’re used to seeing it.
  • Can trash any system they use, no matter how locked down and secure it is.
  • Won’t even try to learn anything new.
We should also consider that public services worldwide are not known for being agile or fast. Imagine the slowdown during employee training, the cost of training, and all the adaptation challenges that come with switching to a different system.

I appreciate what you're saying about users who "Can’t save a file unless..." I for one get annoyed when a program update changes around the software's GUI, but we all had to learn windows, and some of grew up before there was a "windows!" If someone is too uninterested to learn anything new, the brave new world that is coming may leave them behind. I have never paid a penny for linux support, so I have no idea about comparative costs in that regard. (don't recall paying for windows support either)(unless you count recovery of a fried hdd -- but I don't recall that as a windows problem).

I'm talking about corporate level support, including software deployment and maintenance. Home market is a completely different story :alien:
