the truth is that chrome is really pretty safe, if you keep it up to date. So if you stay away from high-risk sites, and you don't run dodgy downloads or email attachments, then all this exploit talk is oriented towards paranoia/perfectionism/geek-fun.

It also helps to run an ad-blocker, and to disable flash from running automatically.
