Facebook quietly rolled out its live commenting system several weeks ago, and on Monday offered up some details on why it made the change.
A live commenting option, whereby respones to comments on the social-networking site show up in real-time like an instant messaging window, "creates opportunities for spontaneous online conversations to take place in real time, leading to serendipitous connections that may not have ever happened otherwise," Facebook's Ken Deeter wrote in a blog post.
