Us with slow upload speeds, yes for sure.
I myself have 10GB Free on Dropbox that I earnt with referrals that I don't use.
Only takes a couple minutes backing up onto an EXHDD rather then hours/days on a cloud service.

A good thing for the lucky ones with fast uploads tho.

Yes. only a few minutes.
Simple, fast and secure as well. anywhere, anytime we can see and use the data in there, without an internet connection.

I think i still prefer wuala over this, wuala has alot more options right from the application

Wuala is an online storage.
it is not practical for users with low upload speeds.
If computer users got a high upload speed, then use the online storage.
me, MrXidus will use the external hard disk.
but, by using external hard disk will be more secure (because I would never trust an online storage) and we can control at any time, even without an internet connection.

What do you lot use online storage for? Just curious. Cheers.

I don't have any need right now for it, although as dude said, I used to use for college work etc, extremely handy in that regard.

I know it would be better, could be used to share files with family or friends.
but, it will waste your time.
unless you have an upload speed up to 700kb/sec or more. you might could use that.
Try to calculate, 700kb/sec, you can only get 10MB in 14-15 seconds.
or 1mb/sec? only 10MB in 10 seconds.
it is slow. :s

and, if you use an external hard disk. It will save you a lot time, can be up to 55mb/sec or more to copy files from; internal Hard Disk -> External Hard Disk.

**
nah, tomo says as above.
It will be much more effective also.
only a small file may be less than 10MB, it still reasonable.
no need to wait a long time.

Believe it or not, but there are alot of people out there with a fast connection :P

The main benefit of Cloud storage is that it's not local. You can lose your External HDD or it can get stolen or even malfunction. Having your important files backed up somewhere else is an important part of data backup.

I know, tom.
if you live in south korea. You'll get more than 10mb/sec to upload, and download up to 39mb/sec
actually fastest internet in the world.

the important thing is: Upload speed for the people using an online storage services.
