Question Giveaways thread- is everything there safe?

This is just a personal opinion, but I would be concerned about installing some of the software listed in the giveaways thread. There are a lot of obscure software brands, plus others which do not necessarily have the best reputation (IObit for example). Do any of these products pose security risks?

I wonder what others think about this?

It seems that the forum has rules that are sufficiently restrictive. More or less (to me), it comes down to: if it isn't tagged by VirusTotal (or interpreted by members) as malware, we allow it.

I think because we are a security-conscious forum, if the software is popular enough or intrusive, people may discuss it. Otherwise, each of us may have different levels of tolerance, and the rules may already reflect those preferences.

The only giveaway I redeemed was Privazer Pro, most of the giveaways are permanent free or useless programs that I would never use.

And btw the vast majority of software is close-source so God knows what these software do and what data they harvest.
