Google says it's rolling out a new feature called 'AI Inbox,' which summarizes all your emails, but the company promises it won't train its models on your emails.

On Thursday, Google announced a new era of Gmail where Gemini will be taking over your default inbox screen.

Similar to Google Search, AI Overviews summarizes your email and provides a short overview, so you don't have to read all previous emails in the thread.

I am not happy about that, hopefully it will take a very long time before it reaches the Netherlands. And I certainly do not believe that they will not train their AI on our e-mails.
I prefer to use AI only when needed, not to be integrated in OS and apps, and running in background all the time.
Optional, not obligatory.

It’s naive to believe that without this AI feature Google won’t use your emails for training. There is already a lawsuit against Google because they used private data like images stored in Google Photos for training.

Google is everywhere, they hold gigabytes of user data for everyone and it has all been used to train Gemini. There is no escape from it.

So we may as well enjoy the organised inbox 🤷🏻‍♂️

I am fully aware of that, but I do not need an AI within Gmail. AI definitely has its uses, but not with Gmail. And like Parkinsond mentioned ... it should be an optional function and not an obligatory one.
