It is sad to see Windows XP go, even though it is old there are many XP systems that would have lasted another 10 years or so if Microsoft didn't end support. With Microsoft it is all about profit and they lost a lot with Windows 8. I would love to see Windows XP go open-source that way third-party developers could continue to keep it updated but probably will never happen.

In some ways I still like Windows XP better than Windows 7 since it requires less expensive hardware to run it and it is still more user-friendly. Many users with low income will be forced to keep using it until they can afford to buy a new system. Many businesses will have to raise consumer prices to be able to upgrade in a time when economy is bad or risk the chance of their customer's data getting hacked. Beware of ATM's because many banks still are using Windows XP because they can not afford to upgrade.

Thanks. :D

Banks can't afford to upgrade? lol pull the other one - banks are the one company who have more than enough to upgrade

Companies and individuals have had more the long enough to prepare for this day - support was supposed to have ended 2.5 years ago, MS extended that so people had even longer to prepare - no excuse to still be running XP, it's old and a danger to everyone online, insecure and millions of infected machines zombied into botnets - the sooner it dies and people upgrade to a more secure OS, the better

Support may be now gone, but XP is long from dead yet... Lot of die hard fans out there.. ;)
I am definitely one of them. Tuesday, I took eXPy to Microsoft's update site for the last time, & was surprised to find (3) important updates including "malicious software tool", "security update for Windows XP", & a "Security update for Internet Explorer 8" which was ironic since with no further security patches I'll never use IE 8 again...o_O *waves goodbye* ;)

Everyone thinks that banks are wealthy and successful but that is not always true.
Many of the little local branches that have contracts with ATM's are struggling to make it.
If you keep up with business news, you will see many small local banks go out of business all the time and file bankruptcy.
People don't pay their loans back, they loose money on property due to mortgage and poor economy, etc.

Large banks chains will have upgraded ATM's because they are successful and can afford to keep their equipment up to date.
The problem is when you need to use a ATM, you have to use what is available at the time you need to withdraw money.

So you will never know if the ATM that you withdraw your money from is still using XP or not.
If it is from a small banking company then more than likely it is still using XP. So it would be wise to avoid all ATM's not from a large banking companies. Next time you decide to use a ATM at a convenient store or other location, you might want to pay attention and make sure it is not from a small independent company. It is best to only use the ATM's that belong to your bank to avoid problems and extra processing fees.

Some smaller businesses are still using Windows XP to process customer's payments, so it would also be wise to only use your credit card at large businesses and pay with cash other places.

Thanks. :D
