Google Will Be Able to Backup Your Entire Computer

Unfortunately converting complex Word documents to Google doc format make them lose all functionality. Dynamic fields and tables, for instance, do not work at after conversion in my experience. So unless Google's document format becomes more powerful or the conversion gets better it's not an option for me at all...
I don't have complex docs like you, but I do have problems of lost formatting when converting back from google format to microsoft format.

not google, we will be able to backup our entire computer using google service, else it sounds like google will do it whether we want or not etc.

I use onedrive at the moment for backing up documents and photo's.
Tried google drive a couple of years ago and found it to be as good as onedrive.
The reason i use onedrive is because i log on with an MS account!
I'm not paranoid so i would use google for complete PC backup!

I hope they increase their free storage.
But keeping any important data on any cloud storage is not good. You give up your data to another person. You never know what kind of technology that person has. Even if the the present day technology cannot break encryption tomorrow's technology will be able to do that and once the data is in the cloud the provider can keep it as long as it wishes. There's also another problem i.e. password, you can forget your password, it can fall into someone others hand and things like that. But there are also a lot of good things about a cloud storage, just need to use it cautiously.

@mlnevese Even converting uploaded (Word) .DOCX to work with Word Online isn't exact, as it's a cut-down web version. You'll find issues with editing documents.

I never tried that but I also never saw any software that is supposedly compatible with Word's doc format be fully compatible. Open Office, for instance always seem to ignore heading formating on the documents I tried. I hope Word online will eventually be fully compatible.

Welcome to 2017 guys, privacy exists no more. You only have the companies that tell you they share your data, and the companies that tell you they don't, but they do. We claim to know so much about it, and we know nothing. We just buy what we're sold. If you want a software to not collect your data, block them from connecting to the internet. Else, you'll never know.

I've found Free Office from Softmaker to be the most compatible with MS Word. At least for my requirements, Free Office has been better than other free office suites.

There is no way to let anyone synchronize any of my info with him...
They already have enough about us... :(
