Rec'd a msg saying infected by Zeus, don't turn off etc. called 877-746-0477. Said they were Microsoft. Couldn't speak English too good. I hung up. Rebooted. Starts. Seems bit of a delay like maybe keylogging... Need a recommendation for a good cheap virus protection. Only use Window Defender because computer guy said not to use more than one at a time and that it was pretty solid.

That is a scam. Search Youtube for Tech Support Scam and you will see. Don't pay attention to such pop-ups. Just close the browser.
