i got kapersky tdsskiller to install. i checked enable nstl in " change parameters" and ran a scan and it found nothing. then i downloaded mbam chameleon and ran that and after it was finished it found nothing also. spybot still shows win.32.downloader.gen as a virus. it says the save location is c:/users/owners/appdata/local/conduit/ so when i go there to click delete manually it says it's still in use and thus can't be deleted.

i scanned with farbar and this is the 2 logs.

but then i scan with aswMBR and it says avast! antirootkit has stopped working.
a problem caused the program to stop working correctly and then closes

Ok, let's scan with alternative to Aswmbr.

Download TDSSKiller and save it to your desktop

Execute TDSSKiller.exe by doubleclicking on it.
Confirm "End user Licence Agreement" and "KSN Statement" dialog box by clicking on Accept button.
  • Press Start Scan
  • If Suspicious object is detected, the default action will be Skip, click on Continue.
  • If Malicious objects are found, select Cure.

Once complete, a log will be produced at the root drive which is typically C:\ ,for example, C:\TDSSKiller.<version_date_time>log.txt

Please post the contents of that log in your next reply.

thanks a bunch, i guess adw got it off. actually i just restarted and it has this pop up and makes that error sound

"runDLL

there was a problem starting
c:/users/owner/appdata/local/conduit/backgroundcontainer/backgroundcontainer.dll

the specified module could not be found."

it references the original file that spybot indicated, that adw was able to remove like it's trying to open it but can't cause it's deleted so doesn't that indicate there's some piece of it left?

2. Save notepad as fixlist.txt to your Desktop.
NOTE: => It's important that both files, FRST and fixlist.txt are in the same location or the fix will not work.

3. Run FRST/FRST64 and press the Fix button just once and wait.
If the tool needed a restart please make sure you let the system to restart normally and let the tool completes its run after restart.

Yes, you're clean :)

The following will implement some post-cleanup procedures:

=> Please download DelFix by Xplode to your Desktop.

Run the tool and check the following boxes below;
checkmark.png
Remove disinfection tools
checkmark.png
Create registry backup
checkmark.png
Purge System Restore

Click Run button and wait a few seconds for the programme completes his work.
At this point all the tools we used here should be gone. Tool will create an report for you (C:\DelFix.txt)

The tool will also record healthy state of registry and make a backup using ERUNT program in %windir%\ERUNT\DelFix
Tool deletes old system restore points and create a fresh system restore point after cleaning.

You should care what sites you visit, and what software you install. These extensions are installed by you, there is no antivirus that could stop you.

Spybot is outdated software, you should use MalwareBytes it is enough. Another good software for protection against adware is Unchecky --> http://unchecky.com/
