Hello,
I have a problem with my computer. Sometimes there will be 7 or more Com Surrogate Services that are taking up to 500mb ram and using up a lot of the CPU. I also had avast pop up and tell me it blocked a site from opening. I already scanned the computer with many programs that were installed one at a time. I tried Avast and when i scanned the system it found 92 threats, but it would still pop up and tell me it blocked a site afterwards. Bit defender found nothing, but still blocked the sites from opening. Malware bytes found some too, but I can't remember the amount. I even tried scanning from a linux partition with ClamAV, and it found 5 threats.

I am now on AVG, and it found 5 threats on the first scan, but on a second scan it found 38. it removed them all except for one called Adware Generic_r.UJ located at c:\Windows\SysWOW64\dllhost.exe[14060]
It could not fix this file for some reason. The other threats it found were all Tracking Cookie Zedo located in my user folder\AppData\Local\Temp\5ef8\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Cookies\ and with various names after that.

The Com Surrogates are still running now. Also, avg does not pop up warning of websites trying to open so i don't know if that was fixed.

I will really appreciate any help removing this thing.

Hello,

They call me TwinHeadedEagle around here, and I'll be working with you.

Before we start please read and note the following:
  • At the top of your post, please click on the "Watch thread" button and make sure to check Watch this thread...and receive email notifications. This will send an email to you as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing me to solve your problem faster.
  • Please do not install any new software during the cleaning process other than the tools I provide for you. This can hinder the cleaning process. Please do not perform System Restore or any other restore.
  • Instructions I give to you are very simple and made for complete beginner to follow. That's why you need to read through my instructions carefully and completely before executing them.
  • Please do not run any tools other than the ones I ask you to, when I ask you to. Some of these tools can be very dangerous if used improperly. Also, if you use a tool that I have not requested you use, it can cause false positives, thereby delaying the complete cleaning of your machine.
  • All tools we use here are completely clean and do not contain any malware. If your antivirus detects them as malicious, please disable your antivirus and then continue.
  • If during the process you run across anything that is not in my instructions, please stop and ask. If any tool is running too much time (few hours), please stop and inform me.
  • I visit forum several times at day, making sure to respond to everyone's topic as fast as possible. But bear in mind that I have private life like everyone and I cannot be here 24/7. So please be patient with me. Also, some infections require less, and some more time to be removed completely, so bear this in mind and be patient.
  • Please stay with me until the end of all steps and procedures and I declare your system clean. Just because there is a lack of symptoms does not indicate a clean machine. If you solved your problem yourself, set aside two minutes to let me know.
  • Please attach all report using
    fjqb1h.png
button below. Doing this, you make it easier for me to analyze and fix your problem.

  • Do not ask for help for your business PC. Companies are making revenue via computers, so it is good thing to pay someone to repair it.
  • If I don't hear from you within 3 days from this initial or any subsequent post, then this thread will be closed.

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool and save it to your desktop.

Hi, thank you so much for helping me. Here are the requested log files. The scan found nothing and the com surrogates are still here. I notice that they take a while to start, only after I've been browsing for a while do they appear.

FRST.gif
Fix with Farbar Recovery Scan Tool

icon_exclaim.gif
This fix was created for this user for use on that particular machine.
icon_exclaim.gif

icon_exclaim.gif
Running it on another one may cause damage and render the system unstable.
icon_exclaim.gif

Download attached fixlist.txt file and save it to the Desktop:

Both files, FRST and fixlist.txt have to be in the same location or the fix will not work!

  • Right-click on
    FRST.gif
    icon and select
    RunAsAdmin.jpg
Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • Press the Fix button just once and wait.
  • If for some reason the tool needs a restart, please make sure you let the system restart normally. After that let the tool complete its run.
  • When finished FRST will generate a log on the Desktop, called Fixlog.txt.

Please attach it to your reply.

The fix finished and I had to restart. Computer has been on for 15min and no Com Surrogates so far. I also noticed the computer starts up a lot faster than before. Also, I forgot to mention before that my computer wasn't showing picture and video thumbnails, but that seems to have been fixed now as they are showing without a problem.

I've attached the fixlog

I will keep a lookout for a while to see if it returns, but I think it's fixed now. I've been browsing this whole time and I would have had the com surrogates pop up by now.

Thank you very much for helping me.

Ok it seems i have another problem. I noticed after removing this virus i couldn't open a text file. Well it did open, but it was just symbols and letters in foreign languages. I thought it was just that one file so i didn't really think about it. But today I found something really concerning on another folder that had word and normal text files that also opened to unreadable text. It is 3 files

DECRYPT_INSTRUCTION.TXT

INSTALL_TOR.URL

DECRYPT_INSTRUCTION.HTML

DECRYPT_INSTRUCTION.TXT has the following inside:

What happened to your files ?
All of your files were protected by a strong encryption with RSA-2048 using CryptoWall 2.0.
More information about the encryption keys using RSA-2048 can be found here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSA_(cryptosystem)

What does this mean ?
This means that the structure and data within your files have been irrevocably changed, you will not be able to work with them, read them or see them,
it is the same thing as losing them forever, but with our help, you can restore them.

How did this happen ?
Especially for you, on our server was generated the secret key pair RSA-2048 - public and private.
All your files were encrypted with the public key, which has been transferred to your computer via the Internet.
Decrypting of your files is only possible with the help of the private key and decrypt program, which is on our secret server.

What do I do ?
Alas, if you do not take the necessary measures for the specified time then the conditions for obtaining the private key will be changed.
If you really value your data, then we suggest you do not waste valuable time searching for other solutions because they do not exist.

For more specific instructions, please visit your personal home page, there are a few different addresses pointing to your page below:
1.https://paytordmbdekmizq.torsona.com/4N9z3a
2.https://paytordmbdekmizq.poltornik.com/4N9z3a
3.https://paytordmbdekmizq.dogotor.com/4N9z3a
4.https://paytordmbdekmizq.torforlove.com/4N9z3a

If for some reasons the addresses are not available, follow these steps:
1.Download and install tor-browser: http://www.torproject.org/projects/torbrowser.html.en
2.After a successful installation, run the browser and wait for initialization.
3.Type in the address bar: paytordmbdekmizq.onion/4N9z3a
4.Follow the instructions on the site.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
Your personal page: https://paytordmbdekmizq.torsona.com/4N9z3a
Your personal page (using TOR): paytordmbdekmizq.onion/4N9z3a
Your personal identification number (if you open the site (or TOR 's) directly): 4N9z3a

I have not visited any of those sites and am not using my windows partition for the time; I am on Ubuntu at the moment of posting this. I noticed it has affected only my desktop folder and all its sub folders with text files and ms word files. Also, even in Ubuntu the files will open to unreadable text.
