Source: How Do You Feel About Facebook? Take the Survey. – The Mozilla Blog

We put together a fun, quick survey to try and find out how people are feeling right now. It’ll take about three minutes of your day.

Take Survey (Take the survey: How do you feel about Facebook?)

There’s been a lot in the news lately about how 50 million Facebook users had their information used by Cambridge Analytica, a private company, without their knowledge.

The conversation since — both online and off — has been all over the board. Some people were not at all surprised by the story, saying this has been common practice for a while. Others were shocked, worried their personal information could be used for nefarious purposes. And still others seem not to really notice the news at all.

We’ll use this survey to understand how we can better support and advocate for you and your personal information online. We promise not to use any of your personally identifying information on targeted ads. We promise not to sell this data to any third parties. And we promise to share the results of this survey back with you in a transparent and open way.

I have a Facebook account, but I barely log on and post anything on it. I can live without Facebook no problem at all. I am not a hardcore social media user.

I have a FB account but maybe log on 3-4 times a month. I would have deleted Facebook year's ago but require it for some contact's who I don't have any other mean's to keep in touch with, since they're not too tech savvy or already too comfortable to leave Facebook.

These revelation's aren't really new to me, as I am a web developer myself in my free time, I was already aware of Facebook's data collection policy since 2013. Back then, I restricted all my setting's to only privacy setting's, limited my time on Facebook, and stopped their tracking across different site's. While also, only posting and liking thing's with the expectation that Facebook will siphon and use this data somehow to profit. Lastly, I also use a email with 2FA and a weak FB password I don't use on any other site, to prevent losing access to my account and having my password stolen and abused.

Here we're in 2018 and I haven't changed any of my FB practices, and FB haven't gotten smarter. However, the one good thing from this fallout is it's forcing FB to be more accountable. So, I hope more people keep complaining and we finally get some kinda data protection law like our European counterparts
