How does a member become a moderator?
Please note that I am not posting this because we are looking for new moderators. This is just a question we receive often and I thought that I should answer it in a post.
Members become moderators by invitation only. We look for people who have shown that they have the qualities we need by their actions as members. If you are aspiring to become part of the team of moderators, you should keep up being a good member. As long as you are helpful, active, and follow the rules to make sure everyone can enjoy our forum, you will be considered.

Qualities a future moderator should have:
- Understanding and following of the rules of the forum.
- Responsibility, morality, and good, positive behavior.
- Activity and dedication to the forum: making good posts and helping other members.
Notes:
- Skill level or knowledge in a particular forum or subject: although it is a plus, a moderator's main role is to maintain order and keep people in line with the rules so everybody can enjoy our forum.
- Time spent on forum and/or post count: although we like members that have been here for awhile and are active, we prefer quality (intelligent, helpful and well-mannered posts) over quantity.
- If you want to help moderators by pointing out problems, do it through PMs or by using the "Report" button, not by making a post.
- What about nominations (members nominating a certain person that they find suited to be a mod)? We might ask for nominations but only if we can't find a member willing to be a mod. At this point in time nominations are not needed.
The following will prevent you from becoming a moderator:
- Failure to follow the rules.
- Private messages or posts asking to become a moderator: asking us directly about it typically shows that you are more interested in the position than you are in actually helping out.
