  1. Grab a calculator (you won't be able to do this in your head).
  2. Key in the first three digits of your phone number (not your area code).
  3. Multiply by 80.
  4. Add 1.
  5. Multiply by 250.
  6. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number.
  7. Add the last 4 digits of your phone number again.
  8. Subtract 250.
  9. Divide number by 2.

Did you get the same number as your phone number?

(xxx*80+1)*250+yyyy+yyyy-250 = 250*80*xxx+250+2*yyyy-250 = 20000*xxx + 2*yyyy. When you divide by 2 you get 10000*xxx+yyyy = xxx0000+yyyy = xxxyyyy

The algebra shows it well ^^. You are typing in your phone number all it is doing is taking you round the houses to confuse you.
