Hello, i switched from AVG to Avast a few weeks ago just to pop back in on my old favorite Avast! so far I'm enjoying it. I do however have one very annoying issue. I'm currently moving a very large volume of data over USB drive from my home computer to my travelling laptop and every single time i insert the Jump drive, it scans it with a "targeted scan" I have changed the settings to not auto scan, it still scans, I have disabled auto play in windows, it still scans. Is there any way to turn off this annoying feature? I know its not the most secure option, but Neither one of these PC's are infected. I have also added a exception for the jump drive as well from all shields "supposedly" annnd it still scans.

Try this for now, safely eject the USB, then go into Settings/Notifications and set it to Ask to scan it. When you insert the USB again, you should get the pop up where you can choose to not have it run the scan (don't scan), or, see if the Don't ask option will work on its own.

that was it, the one setting I was missing lol thank you very much @Jonny Quest

@Antimalware18 in thinking about it and looking at your first image again, that setting was probably to exclude the E drive from a on-demand scan, real time scanning, and maybe even a Smart Scan as well, and not so much for when the USB drive was inserted?

That's what I'm thinking as well, Honestly IMO its a bit confusing as to what all the switches do in relation to insertable USB drives. And honestly its not that big of a problem, but I have avast on both of the PC's so it was doing it on both, and by a large amount of data i mean about 2tb worth, and I only have a 50gb jump drive at my disposal ATM.

I agree with you, and that is what's nice about using the same AV across multiple devices, as when we figure out a change to make, it's easily done on the other one. I'm also liking Avast ;) :)

Its very nice, I stopped using it awhile ago (about 2013) when some other free options became available and I didn't look back. I tried ESET a few years ago and ran it for a year, I like it the best. but 60USD for a 1yr license for 1PC is a bit too steep.
