Microsoft has made several changes to Windows 8 to make it more user-friendly OS. A very simple example is silent deletion of files and folders. When deleting things from Windows 8, it won’t ask you any confirmation; it deletes silently and send to Recycle Bin. But the problem is, if you accidentally hit the delete key, the file might be sent to the Recycle Bin and you need to search through the Recycle Bin to restore the file.
How to enable the old style confirmation dialog when deleting files and folders in Windows 8? If you want the good old delete confirmation “annoyance”, you can easily bring back it.

How to Disable Silent Deletion in Windows 8?
From Windows 8 desktop, right-click on the Recycle Bin icon and select Properties from the context menu.

Check the check-box “Display delete confirmation dialog” to enable confirmation when deleting a file in Windows 8. Click OK button to save the settings.

That’s it. Later, if you hate the good old delete confirmation “annoyance”, you can enable silent deletion by unchecking the option as mentioned in the above steps.

Same feature can be found in Windows 7 but unlike W8, its default to display confirmation.
