Not too sure if this is where I should post this question (so I apologize if not!)

What software can I use to remove everything from my SSD - I understand that it's difficult to erase a SSD: so I wonder if it can be done, and how?

Look into this tool. it can wipe SSD's. It is a bootable tool..

If doing this from windows you could use either:

http://rufus.akeo.ie/
or
http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/

The latter, unetbootin can be used both for windows or Linux. It also can not only burn ISO's for operating systems, but tools as well, if you read down the page from the link provided you will see the list of tools it can burn, and PartedMagic is one of them.
