Hello! I need to upgrade my PC with a compatible SSD. I was offered a WD Green SSD 240GB for $80. Is this one compatible with my PC? Thank you
Hello! The “Crucial” is not available in Palestine and SSDs are very expensive here. You can say I have no knowledge when it comes to hardware. I have attached the pictures of the inside of the PC and I am looking forward to your advice on how to plug in the SSD. Thank you in advance! There's no reason for incompatibility. I see on official product site that mobo has two m2 slots for expansion (one has taken by Wlan) and another one empty, although you should check and post the exact model number of your HP 290 G1 tower, so we can be sure.
So, you can take SATA SSD (for 80$ I think you can get Crucial MX500 250GB), I am pretty sure that mobo has another SATA slot, but it's better you visually confirm this.
Or if you have the model with m2 slots and it happens that one is empty, again take Crucial MX500 250GB but in m2280 form.
This is the best option available now. Unofrotunately, the high-end devices don’t exist in my country and if they happen to exist, doubled price is what you get.IMO avoid anything that says 'green' on it. It saps performance and in some cases, reduces lifespan.
Do you have a video installation guide ?I used an HP 840g1 and upgraded it Np with an ssd. You will not regret it. Just get off the platter.

I understand
So you need to have, an SSD, a SATA cable and available port on your mobo. I think that pictures will explain better than my words

SATA cable goes from Motherboard slot into an SSD, and Power cable (wider connector) goes from your power supply to your SSD.
If you can, next time get a used enterprise SSD off ebay. They still have a longer lifespan than buying a new consumer SSD. Especially the ones from Micron.
Finally someone knows the truth! All you can order from Amazon and eBay is books and you have to wait months and sometimes it just does not arrive. I have purchased the WD Green SSD for $80! while you can get for $56 on Amazon. The HP 290 G1 here costs around $500!The problem is, the Israeli Occupation and Blockade essentially means he can't even order from Ebay. Not to get into politics, but that's the reality of the situation. 5 miles from his home is one of the high tech capitols of the world and home base for Intel, but he can't access any of it.
Glad to hear that it's working well for you! Did you transfer your OS to the SSD or are you simply using it for additional storage? Thanks you all! I have plugged in the SSD and everything is working like a charm! Thank you @BoraMurdar
I was advised to do a clean install on the SSD. Many complained about unbootable Windows when they used tools such as Aconis WD edition.Glad to hear that it's working well for you! Did you transfer your OS to the SSD or are you simply using it for additional storage?
