I just hate some of the new PC software, for example Avast Tune-up.

You have to use your mouse to slide portions of it so you can see all of the app functions.

At first I was like what is this awful mess.... Then it dawned on me.

They are making phone software and instead of making the same software optimized for PC, they just leave it as is, and expect PC users to "LIVE with it"

I completely understand your frustration. It seems like a trend where software developers are prioritizing mobile interfaces over PC. It's definitely something that needs to be addressed for better user experience on all platforms.

That’s often the tune-up software, users should always know:

Cleaning up browser caches is beyond useless, from the first 5 pages, almost the same amount of cache is generated. It’s a constant clean-generate cycle and the stats how much space has been freed up are misleading. The cache total level is managed by the browsers. More beneficial is to not have every browser out there installed. Potentially settle for Edge, cuz the WebView is default for all applications anyway.

Cleaning up temp files as well, next minute there are temp files re-generated

The cleaned up space is often less than the TuneUp program takes up itself

Cleaning up registry has 0 effect on performance. Microsoft’s official statement is not to use registry cleaners

Stopping background processes, which is TuneUp’s main benefit is good, but similar effects can be achieved by uninstalling oem bloatware and minimising the number of total apps.

All in all, TuneUps have very little benefit in this day and age and there are built-in cleanup utilities in Windows.

It was just an example of the problem that seems to persist with software now days.

As far as software goes, I don't use the tune-up, but I do like the performance optimizer in CCleaner, that puts programs to sleep until you need them. That in fact is the only reason I use CCleaner.

I actually like HDCleaner better, except I don't think it has the feature that allows turning off apps in the background until needed..

Nah that was a patent of TuneUp Utilities.de, which was acquired by AVG and is now sold under AVG, Avast, CCleaner and Norton. You won’t get it with anyone else. And yeah, that’s the only good thing about them. But they’ve got background processes themselves.
