This is my daily security setup on Vista from my laptop...sometime I'm using/testing new (if possible) apps or old ones what happenes quite often (just for fun...sentiment...to remind something).

----------------------------
BTW - SpyShelter and Shadow Defender are the vital components of security setup on others mashines in my house also:
on XP -Kerio FW 2.1.5 Free + SpyShelter Premium + Shadow Defender + Keriver 1-Click Free
on Win 8.1 - SpyShelter FW + Shadow Defender + Macrium Reflect Free
----------------------------
This setup is not for every/average users.

I have quite a few computers in my household.

I have one Vista computer.

It's a hobby computer. It's like a very old car -- it needs work and it's hard to find parts.

I've loaded very old security programs on there just to see if they work. Pest Patrol, Ewido, Giant....

I've spent more time on that computer as a hobby.... than I've spent on my much nicer computers.

But... it's getting more difficult.

Fewer things render correctly.

Fewer things work..

I can't imagine using Vista as the daily driver..

But... I like it. And don't plan to let it go -- yet.

I'll turn it over to a Vista museum one day..

I even have Netscape on this machine... although it works for fewer and fewer websites.

Unfortunately my Vista from about two months is walking on "happy hunting ground" He always will stay in my memories as my best friend. It's because my F-S laptop (ca 11 years of using) decided to retire and nobody forced it to work again.

Everything must die in the end, eventually. 😢
The good thing is that you will have a new laptop.🙂

Wow, bummer.

My condolences.

May your friend Vista rest in peace.
