It is always sad when the electoral college gets in the way of the actual popular vote.

I agree with you on the latter topic you mentioned, but I think that the electoral college neutralizes most voter fraud.
For example; All it takes to win any given state is 1 vote. That said, the heavily saturated democratic/black/hispanic counties might have tallied thousands of votes that were not legit, yet all they can win is that ONE STATE with their frivilous, as well as legit, popular votes numbering in the hundreds of thousands or millions.
I think that is where the electoral college actually helps us these days--you might lose one state in a bad way, but at least the illegal votes cast cannot change the State's electoral number. Otherwise, voting fraud would not be quarantined to individual states as it is now with the electoral college.
I do think that in the future you will see all electorates cast against a candidate, whether said candidate wins a majority of the poplulation of any given state, by a huge margin, or not at all. I believe that is how corrupt we have become.
Furthermore, I cannot believe we don't require a valid picture ID, that proves legal citizenship, in order to vote. That is pure insanity.

It would be interesting to see how it would all go if a candidate had to win by two-thirds of the total national POPULAR vote. If two-thirds was not achieved the first time we should have two more elections to see if either candidate can get two-thirds. After the third failure, we go to the electoral college and begin to tally the electoral vote state-by-state, like we do now. IMHO

The Northeast is a darn mess. Obama could have gone up there and started urinating on storm victims on live television and the same amount of them would have voted for him regardless. It is a freakin' joke. That is how Tyrants are raised and empowered.
