Intel Core I7-5820K DDR3 ?

Ddr4 only. If i may ask what is the usage you have that the 5820k will benefit you over the 6700k?

Btw the 6700k is supposed to do low voltage ddr3 which is probably not what you have. Some motherboard say they can do normal ddr3 also but that might limit the cpu life.

Buy RAM according to the CPU you are going to use, not vice versa. My suggestion is to go with newer i7 6700K. All x99 motherboards are relatively expensive and if you buy i7 5820K you'll need a new mobo also. And DDR4 RAM.
1151 socket motherboards cost less

That is also a good suggestion but only if he is willing to move to DDR4
Anyway i believe both suggestion are very good

I purchased the 5820k about 10 months ago. It only supports DDR4. My Dad and I completed the entire system for $800 dollars. It could have been during a sale or bundle package. I just looked up the site i purchased from and it shows that the Haswell E chips and MB are more expensive than Skylake :confused:

I guess this is the only scenario I find that newer is not always better.

But you have fun, because I'm in Poland (with our internal rates for work) for such equipment have to work hard around 4 miesiące.A what the question is a matter of the motherboard, you just get to the hardware store, advise you. Regards

I decided to go with the I7-6700K, The supported speeds of the RAM are 866/2133. If I take 3000mhz DDR4 RAM, would that work ?
(in the shop I want to buy the ram their is like 3 euros price difference with the 2133 and 3000 version, thats why I ask)

It depends on the motherboard.

JUst buy it if it's a short deal and get a z170 motherboard to also be able to overclock the cpu you will get.
