Intel
has announced that it’s working with Dell and the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) to launch the AI Incubator Network as part of its AI for Workforce program. The AI Incubator Network will help community colleges around the United States build artificial intelligence (AI) labs that will train new engineers to a level where they can begin working at firms like Intel.
The firm will select ten community colleges which will each receive 12-month grants of $40,000 to build their AI labs. As a bonus to helping these ten colleges set up their AI labs, Intel says the mission will spur on a national dialogue that will help other community colleges get the funding they need to build their AI labs too.
Commenting on the news, Michelle Johnston Holthaus, Intel executive vice president and general manager of the Client Computing Group, said:
“Building upon Intel’s partnership with the American Association of Community Colleges and Dell by establishing incubators for emerging technology education across the U.S. will provide greater access to critically needed technical skills and training in AI. This specialized program is a starting point for the next generation of U.S. technologists, engineers and inventors to expand their innovative thinking and go on to land careers in all sectors of the digital economy.”
