Hello Guys,

Please give me suggestions on IDS in Ubuntu machine
I want to setup IDS in my laptop
Snort is open source and may be relible one

What you think about IDS and have you ever tried in your host machine?

I am a huge open source guy, I would say go for it, I have a IPS system on my router(Linux based) and IDS on my Windows 10 surface.

I am much more of a Debian/Arch/OpenSUSE/CentOS kind of guy. Ubuntu, was my first Linux distro over a decade ago, and even today the desktop environment still seem's sluggish to me, so I would worry the IDS might make your Ubuntu distro slower if running a desktop environment like GNOME. However, if you are running in CLI mode or you have some pretty beefy hardware performance spec's, or your desktop environment is Xfce(pretty lightweight and speedy desktop environment). I would say again, go for it.
