Troubleshoot Is defragging laptops hard drive safe ?

I'd like to defrag my laptop's drive but is it safe ? I dont wanna ruin my laptop.

Yes its safe unless you run an SSD, its just organizing the files in a better way to get thenm read faster.

That is one i would defrag, i have an Hitachi 500 GD HDD with 5200 rounds here.

it's safe .. I have 1 TB harddisk. So HDD size does not matter, it will just take little bit more time. I even have scheduled deframmentation on.
