Is my computer OK to run windows in VM?

My other pc died,and it had 8gb of ram so it was ok to run windows in vmware, what about this one? HP Support document - HP Support Center
This is PC that i have to live with now
Could I run windows 7 inside of vmware and give 1gb of ram?
